Drill 30 acres between refills with Samco’s CarryAll
As their business has steadily increased over the past number of years, Samco specifically designed this new implement to meet high output requirements in larger acreage, short season time frames around the world.
Manufactured at the company’s Adare, Co Limerick headquarters, the CarryAll was on view at last week’s FTMTA Farm Machinery.
It is pulled either by a drawbar, or on the tractor’s lower linkage, and the PTO drive is taken from the tractor to the rear of the CarryAll.
The unit has a three-point hitch on the rear that connects to the maize drill.
The CarryAll has a 3,000 litre herbicide tank and a 300 litre rinsing tank for flushing and rinsing the sprayer lines.
An induction port for herbicide mixing is standard, to ensure the correct agitation of the herbicide through the tank.
A two-inch quick fill system allows the tank to be filled from an outside pump, or via a quick-fill system.
A one-metre wide tool box is fitted on both sides of the machine, so that the operator can have all parts and herbicides close at hand when refilling the tank.
The CarryAll can carry 27 rolls of film, mounted on either side of the tank.
Having the rolls in such close proximity allows swift roll changes, and with capacity for up to 3,000 litres of herbicide, an operator can do at least 30 acres between refills.
The CarryAll is fitted with four cameras to give the operator a clear view of each metering unit, and of working parts.
Work lights are strategically placed around the CarryAll to give the operator visibility when working during low light hours, or when carrying out routine maintenance on the machine.
New film-break monitoring in the tractor cab also helps the operator.
The CarryAll has a positive steering 10-ton axle to act as a hillside correction when operating on side slopes, which is also monitored from the tractor cab.
Road width is set at three metres for the EU, with the option of a 710/45 R22.5 tyre available to keep the machine within the three-metre width, ideal when used with the folding six-row drill.
All hydraulic functions are controlled by the tractor’s hydraulics.
But integrated controls, along with load sensing hydraulics, are planned for on the CarryAll, along with making it Isobus-ready.
For the Canadian market, the CarryAll has the option of a 600 litre liquid fertiliser tank, for placement of specialised starter fertiliser.
Other options include granular distribution of certain insecticides used in seed treatments for pest ontrol.
A dual wheels option is also available, to avoid driving on the seed row, which is most common in Canadian min-till systems (fitting four 400/60 R22.5 wheels and tyres achieves low ground pressure, which in turn reduces ground compaction in early spring planting).
Designed to increase drill output for users of Samco maize drills, the CarryAll is focused on wider machines, with an eight-row folding version on test for the coming season.
Samco have already sold four eight-row machines into Northern Canada, all with a transport width of 6.5 metres on the road.
However, the new CarryAll frame allows the machine to fold into three metres.
Double disc seed boxes on the HD model drill also make this Samco maize drill popular.
