New round of area payments clawbacks

Thousands of farmers got letters “out of the blue” this week clawing back disadvantaged area payments, said ICSA West Cork chairman Dermot Kelleher.

He said farmers in the disadvantaged areas now feel they are surplus to national requirements, after losing out in the CAP reform, and falling beef incomes, and announced that ICSA will stage a protest to raise awareness of the beef farm income crisis, next Tuesday from 8am to 2pm at the ABP Ireland plant in Bandon,
