Walk in the woods for positive mental health
The event at the Island Wood Recreation Site, Newmarket, Co Cork, at 3pm, is one of five woodland walks taking place around Ireland — called Green Ribbon Walks because participants will wear the international symbol for mental health awareness, introduced to Ireland by the See Change national programme to reduce stigma and challenge discrimination associated with mental health.
The walks promote the combined benefits of green exercise and connection with nature, to improve well-being, weight loss, and life balance, providing positive energy and contentment.
Positive mental health needs to be cultivated, says Mental Health Ireland CEO Orla Barry.
“A relaxing walk with friends or companions we meet along the way is good for body and mind”.
