Big interest expected at prime farmland auction

A guide price slash should see a final figure put under a farm of land at Ballyverane, Macroom, Co Cork, next week, when it’s taken to auction by Killan Lynch of KL Auctioneers.
Even before the off, there was keen interest in this property, he says, and as a further inducement to buyers, the former guide price of €800,000 is now reduced to €600,000, prior to auction this Saturday, Nov 2.
The price cut has had the desired effect, says Killian Lynch: “Since we have reduced it two weeks ago and advertised it in lots by public auction, there has been a big upsurge in interest.” The lots are: Lot A, with just over ten acres of land in pasture and within the town boundary (which may have long term development potential, even if only for a house site or two, subject to planning), and it carries a guide of about €100,000, or about €10,000 per acre.
Lot B is the remaining 50.84 acres of pasture land, which includes a range of farm buildings. The guide price here is €500,000.
“This is a very attractive holding only a mile from Mac-room town centre, and it comes with extensive road frontage,” says Lynch.
The auction will be held in the Castle Hotel, Macroom.
