95% think Ireland is a great place to live
The Irish Examiner/ICMSA survey found 95% either agree or strongly agree with this, while 3% disagree. The commitment to Ireland was most strongly felt among dairy farmers, with 98% agreeing or strongly agreeing.
They were followed by tillage farmers (94%), livestock/cattle farmers (93%), and other farmers (92%).
This overwhelmingly positive view is almost equally shared by male and female farmers, but younger farmers are slightly less effusive about Ireland as a place to live. For example, 99% of all farmers over 65 said they either agreed or strongly agreed that Ireland was a great place to live. This falls to 92% for farmers under 34 and to 90% for those aged 35 to 44. Just 61% of farmers under the age of 34 and 67% of farmers aged 35 to 44 strongly agreed that Ireland was a great country in which to live.
