Irish CAP payments expected to total €11bn over 2014-2020

Direct payments, rural development and market supports are expected to total more than €11bn in Ireland over the 2014-2020 period.

After last week’s agreement of the seven-year EU budget by heads of state, Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney said: “I am very pleased that we have protected Irish farmers’ direct payments.”

He said Ireland’s direct payment ceiling will be over €1.2bn per year, following a very small reduction to accommodate new member states.
