There were two very noticeable themes, as I made my way around the marts this week.

The first was that the number of dry cows coming onto the market increasing yet again, and the second was that attendances ringside for the time of year appear way above normal.

The surprisingly large attendance at Mid Tipp’s mart in Thurles on Monday caused mart manager Martin Ryan to comment, “You’d think the Pope was coming to town”.
