Brush-clearing and mulching machine ideal for farm work

With an upsurge in farm reclamation work, new machines are appearing.
Brush-clearing and mulching machine ideal for farm work

A dedicated brush-clearing and mulching machine has been imported from the UK at South Plant Machinery at Ballinhassig, Co Cork.

Kevin Cotter of South Plant, who specialises in ground work contracting, says this compact, 500 horse power forestry mulcher is ideal for clearing waste ground, while its compact size makes cramped areas very accessible, so it’s ideal for farm work.

Larger forestry mulchers can clear and chip huge trees and plantations, and this machine is ideal for smaller scale projects like brush cutting and clearance of woody and waste scrubland areas on farmland.

The machine will clear, mulch and trim down to within an inch of the soil, and will leave the treated area ready for planting afterwards, says Cotter.

He and his father, Eddie Cotter, made a significant investment in the machine, because they believe there’s a market for a fast, accessible, but efficient forestry/brush mulcher.

The new mulcher is offered for hire at terms in the region of €55 per hour, plus VAT.
