Mixer wagon adds fuel savings to feed system

Richard Keenan & Co’s latest mixer wagon adds fuel savings to their system for supplying livestock with the ideal mix.

Rumen health can deteriorate due to under-mixed diets which are sorted by livestock, resulting in the wrong mix of long and short feed particles, or over mixed diets with too many small particles and fibres.

The iKeenan mixer wagon is designed to produce accurately mixed rations time after time.

Keenan have programmed in the correct loading sequence and the paddle revolutions needed for 296 feed ingredient categories.

AutoStop is an added refinement for use with modern tractors which have PTO push button controls located on the rear fender. AutoStop shuts down the tractor’s PTO drive to the mixer wagon when the required number of paddle revolutions has been completed for the recommended diet mix.

AutoStop also eliminates unnecessary paddle revolutions which waste diesel, and extends the working life of the wagon, by reduces the time that the machine has to work hardest.

A recent research study on a dairy farm indicates that AutoStop will deliver benefits. When eight rations were mixed, the number of paddle revolutions was correct (69) for only one. For others, the number was over by as much as 56 or under by 33 revolutions.

Farmers have the option of purchasing the iKeenan with the Mech-fiber System nutrition advice package.

Findings on 9,800 farms across 25 countries show that this advice package can increase feed efficiency by 5% in the first 90 days and 10% over 365 days, according to Keenan.

Prices for the iKeenan start at €370 per month with Keenan Finance.
