€15,000 per acre expected after huge response to sale of Co Kerry tillage farm of 107 acres

THERE’S been a huge response to the proposed sale of a 107-acre tillage farm at Knoppogue, near Ballyduff, Co Kerry, and Listowel auctioneer John O’Keeffe expects to get near enough to €15,000 per acre for the property.

€15,000 per acre expected after huge response to sale of Co Kerry tillage farm of 107 acres

All in one block, but divided by a minor public road, this farm is laid out for tillage, and has been used for potatoes this year, with the rest in stubble and in grassland.

The property is a residential holding and includes a 25-year-old house with five bedrooms, and a yard that includes good modern buildings.

These include a slatted shed and a cubicle house for over 100 head, as well machinery and calf sheds — all in good condition.

Located close to Ballybunion Golf Links and overlooking the estuary, it’s top quality land, says O’Keeffe, who has seen huge interest since the sale announcement last week. The sale approach is low-key, but the price is strong, and O’Keeffe is bullish in his approach to tagging a price of €15,000 per acre for the land.

“We’ll get a lot of it, because of the amount of interest and because Kerry farmers have money!”
