However, in one low throughput cutting plant compulsory labelling was not applied for beef and minced beef. In one retail outlet, beef which had passed its use-by date was not identified, unidentified beef was present, and the information on compulsory beef labelling was not displayed on the day of the FVO team’s visit.

Department officials were asked to trace back 12 samples of beef and minced beef collected in retail outlets.
