Processors go to 333 cent for steers

A GENERAL increase of around three cents/kg (1p/lb) has raised cattle farmers’ hopes that a two-month price freeze has ended.

Processors go to 333 cent for steers

A number of processors have quoted base prices for steers upwards to 333 cents/kg (119p/lb) this week, and it is easier in general to get the extra three cents as an add-on, if it is not included in the quote.

Prices quoted for heifers are following the same pattern, and staying 6 to 8 cents/kg (2p-3p/lb) ahead of the steers, and up to 11 cents/kg (4p/lb) ahead for better quality heifers. There is strong demand for them.
