Raleigh sale of €420,000 augurs well for nearby 26-acre farm

THE recent sale of a farm at Raleigh, Macroom, making €420,000 for 42 acres, augurs well for land sales in the area, says auctioneer Killian Lynch.

He was joint agent on that sale with Tom Heffernan, of Sherry FitzGerald Heffernan, and now has another farm at Raleigh for sale by private treaty. The land is prime, he says, and in one of the most sought-after areas in residential terms, adjacent to the town boundary.

The 26-acre holding is level and ideal for grazing, but its wooded surroundings, road frontage and location could well attract the hobby farmer, especially as the property is on offer from €300,000 upwards.

Sheltered and all in grass, the property is two miles from Macroom and 35 minutes from Cork city.

The same agent is selling a 31.5-acre holding at Codrum, which adjoins the Macroom town boundary, but is now guide-priced at agricultural land value.

On the western outskirts of Macroom, it is again a fine, level piece of ground, with nearly a mile of road frontage on three sides.

This also is in a sought-after residential location, with frontage onto the N22.

There has been good interest in the property, says Lynch, quoting a guide price of €12,000 to €15,000 per acre for the land, which is all in one block and under grass.
