Competition entry deadlines approach

A NUMBER of competitions are approaching their closing dates. Included is the photography competition, entitled Centenary Celebrations.

Competition entry deadlines approach

All pictures must have been taken at an ICA celebration this year. Sizes are 5in x 4in minimum and 8in x 10in maximum.

Judging will take place at the federation meeting in Ballyclough on Monday, October 18. Bring entries there or post direct to the competition secretary. €3 per picture or three entries for €6.

Another competition nearing its closing date is the poetry competition (in Irish or English). The subjects are English poetry, Friendship, and As Gaeilge, Sonas. Entries should be with the competition secretary by Friday, October 29 with fee of €5.

West Cork competitions include a quiz and baking competition on Monday, October 18, at the Boys Club, Bantry. Guilds taking part are: Glengarriff, Aughadown, Ballyehob/Schull Bantry. Contact Nora Clifford at 027-50164.

On Monday October 25, the competitions are at The Hall, Ballinascarty. Guilds taking part are Ballinscarty, Barryroe, Clonakilty, Kilmeen, Leap, Lisavaird and Timoleague. Contact Bina O’Flynn at 023-8839106.

The mid-Cork table quiz will be on Wednesday, October 20, hosted by Berrings guild in Inniscarra Hall, Ballyanley.

* Cork federation autumn meeting takes place on Monday, October 18, at 7.30pm in Ballyclough Hall.
