Two dairy farms buck the trend in sale supply this autumn
A compact holding at Ardkitt, Enniskeane, of 42 acres with a quota of 46,578 gallons and entitlements of €9,644 per annum has just been launched on the market.
The lands, in one block but divided by a country road, are low-lying, sheltered and well fenced, according to John Hodnett, of Hodnett Forde, who is selling the Ardkitt property in three lots.
The quota and entitlements are apportioned to each lot, with 9.2 acres, 10,311 gallons of quota and €2,135 of entitlements forming lot one.
Lot two comprises 21 acres, 23,729 gallons, and €4,913. Lot three comprises 11 acres, 12,538 gallons, and €2,596.
“It’s some of the finest land in West Cork with frontage onto the main road on its western boundary and a country road on the eastern side. The land is level and is top quality pasture land that would be suitable for any farming enterprise.
“And there’s something to suit different budgets, with considerable interest shown already,” the agent says.
The property is for sale by private treaty with a guide price of €12,000 to €15,000 per acre.
* Meanwhile, in north Cork, a 173-acre dairy farm at Clashmorgan, Mourneabbey, which was sold for €3.52 million at the height of the property boom, is back on the market.
Launched last month, the property is for sale with auctioneer Christy Buckley for offers in the region of €2.25 million.
The vendor is John Walsh, who purchased the Clashmorgan property from auctioneer Liam Mullins in the autumn of 2006.
