€130-€135 green wheat price
National grain committee chairman Noel Delany said on Tuesday that this equated back to a green wheat price of €130 to €135.
He said green barley prices ranged from €116 to €125, with further deals on moistures and transport.
He said some barley had sold for up to €130.
Farm to farm trading had increased compared to last season, due to tighter than normal fodder supplies.
With the main harvest of 225,000 hectares of spring barley, wheat and oats due to commence in the next week, a sustained recovery in grain prices is needed if tillage farming is to survive, said IFA President John Bryan.
He said 35,000 hectares was taken out of grain production this year.
