ROCKCHAPEL in north Cork, at the border of counties Cork, Kerry and Limerick, near the Mullaghareirk Mountains, is one of the highest villages in Ireland.

And ICA members will, no doubt, be aiming high next season when they will be celebrating their 35th anniversary.

Planning for this event will start in September and former guild members are invited to join the celebrations and are asked to contact the guild secretary before October 4.

Rockchapel guild recently held their AGM in the community centre and Mary Murphy, guild president, welcomed Kathleen Shine, federation information officer, who presided over the meeting.

After the minutes were read from the last AGM, Kathleen congratulated the guild for starting up craft classes with Marion O’Callaghan, north Cork regional craft promoter. Classes will be starting again in September.

The committee elected for the next season is: president, Mary Murphy; vice-president, Eily Guiney; secretary, Mary Nolan; assistant secretary, Ann Keogh; treasurer, Nora O’Donnell; assistant treasurer, Joan O’Connell; arts and crafts, Nora Mai Kelleher; Timire, Joan Keogh; information officer, Mary Sheahan.

Four guild members attended the Centenary Garden Party in Fota on June 19. Mary Nolan, guild secretary, l represented Rockchapel at the President’s summer garden party on July 6.
