Fairies and Hollywood star neighbours at this 36-acre parcel of west Cork land

A BIRD’S eye view alone could sell it; the money spent on aerial photography should pay dividends for the vendor of this 36-acre parcel located between Skibbereen and Baltimore in west Cork.

The setting at ground level doesn’t disappoint either, says Skibbereen estate agent Charlie McCarthy, who expects a sale in the €400,000 to €500,000 price bracket, with some of the interest likely due to location alone.

Overlooking the Ilen river estuary and the boatyard at Oldcourt, this area has special appeal not only for well- heeled locals but for Cork city buyers – and some famous Hollywood names are low-key neighbours too.

Adding to the land’s mystic appeal for some might be the presence of a fairy fort in the midst of the best portion.

The 36 acres are mostly arable, with more to be reclaimed from the gorse, and the land faces south-west.

The location is three miles from Skibbereen and five from Baltimore. There’s good road frontage, a hay shed and a mains water supply.
