Galway milk co-op in deals with Aldi, Dawn
The Co Galway based co-op, a producer of dairy consumer products and ingredients, has also agreed to acquire Dawn Dairies Limited’s milk business in Co Galway in a deal understood to be worth between €5 million and €6m.
The deal would strengthen Arrabawn’s position in the Irish liquid milk market and increase its competitiveness, a company spokesperson said. Dawn Dairies is part of the Kerry Group.
Arrabawn’s ultimate aim to become the clear milk brand leader in their region, and to compete with major liquid milk players nationally.
After a consultation process due to be completed by May 18, employees of Dawn Dairies Galway operation will become employees of Arrabawn Co-op.
The Arrabawn and Dawn milk collection and milk sales operations overlap geographically, and savings are targeted in the takeover deal.
