Strong interest in Banteer holding
He is selling a 40-acre residential holding at Shronebeha, Banteer, and has already encountered strong interest.
Maps have been sent out and a number of people have walked the land, which includes a modern bungalow residence.
The farm is beside the village of Banteer, and it’s prime ground, says Thornton, good for tillage and grazing, in two big fields. It’s divided by the Cork to Banteer road, which gives it 600 metres of frontage on two sides, and the footpath from the village ends at the bungalow.
The farm is in two lots: The largest is 23.5 acres, and the second is 16.5 acres, with the bungalow situated on the edge of the larger block.
The guide price is in excess of €15,000 per acre, and there are offers on both lots at the moment, says Michael Thornton. He’s prepared to sell in the entire or, because of the layout, will sell blocks separately. Or the bungalow can be sold with half an acre, and there’s already an offer of €200,000 on that.
This piece of ground would make a superb add-on, says Thornton, and as it’s just 35 minutes from Cork city and less than 12 miles from Mallow, it would be an ideal hobby farm.
The gently sloping land has 100 metres of frontage onto the Glen river. The residence was built in 1993, and is in very good condition, with landscaped gardens. It has 1,200 square feet of space, divided into sitting room, kitchen-diner, utility, three bedrooms and a bathroom, and a garage is attached.
The agent is quite pleased with the early response — there are three active bidders.
