Roots will help Wright feel at home

FINBAR WRIGHT should feel at home when the singer entertains those attending the AIB gala dinner in the INEC on October 9.

Like most of those present, he comes from a farming background, in his case at Ballinspittle, Co Cork.

There, Wright’s musical education began at the age of six, and continued at the Cork School of Music — where he met his future wife, Angela.

Finbar is a classically trained tenor who emerged during the 1990s as one of Ireland’s most popular singers, going on to win global acclaim and to perform in many of the major concert halls of the world, either solo or as part of the Irish Tenors group.

He has sung twice for the former US President Bill Clinton, at a state dinner in Dublin and in Washington.

The Wrights prefer to live and raise their son and a daughter in Co Cork, away from the bright lights.
