Out of 135 dairy animals in 18 classes and five championships, judges at the show placed Dowling’s Almondene Biddy 270 ahead of the top cow of 2007, Smearlaview A Storm Vixan, shown by John and Tim Kirby.

Almondene Biddy 270 is the show’s top twice-calved junior cow in milk.

Vixan, winner of the class for three-times calvers, also took the exhibitor bred and reserve senior titles, continuing her remarkable record of superiority in four shows in 2007, including the Irish Examiner Supreme Championship of the National Dairy Show in Millstreet, Co Cork, and her 2007 RDS Champion of Champions award in the Irish Holstein Friesian Association section.

At Naas, the premier breeder award went to Tom Kelly, Co Louth; Ivan Robinson, Co Down won the premier exhibitor award. The reserve exhibitor bred champion was Lumville Danoise 2, shown by Richard Whelan and E Kelly.

n At the subsequent sale, the top price of €5,300 was paid for Elitestreet Toystory Peach, a September 2007 calf, which had placed second in a class earlier in the day and attracted very strong interest. The second best price of €5,000 was paid for Leagh Shottle Madam ET, a fresh calved heifer.
