CHEESE and whey will figure prominently in a €286m capital investment by milk processors, which includes €114m of Dairy Investment Fund grant assistance from the Government.

Funding objectives are primarily to deliver better production cost efficiency and increase added value production. Grant aid will also be used to improve long-term competitiveness, upgrade plant and buildings to capture new business, and support product specialisation.

Arrabawn Co-op has been awarded €6.84m for a €17.1m whey, SMP and butter project.
