LAKELAND Dairies yesterday unveiled a €20m milk powder plant that can customise products for clients, facilitate research and feed excess energy back into the national electricity grid.

CHEESE and whey will figure prominently in a €286m capital investment by milk processors, which includes €114m of Dairy Investment Fund grant assistance from the Government.

CO-OP leaders were told yesterday that the need for further restructuring in the dairy processing sector is now all the more urgent.
