Broadband move

Work on 100 new telephone exchanges will enable 90% of eircom’s lines to carry broadband, compared to 85% today, according to the telecom company.

In a meeting with IFA President Padraig Walshe, eircom Chairman Pierre Danon said much more needs to be done to bring broadband to all homes and businesses in rural Ireland, but he said doing this quickly would be a problem without Government support.

Mr Danon also assured the IFA President he was committed to improving the fault repair service, especially after storms.
