Amenity horticulture has grown by 50% since 2000 — a prime example of how the changes in the economy have thrown up opportunities for farmers.

This is part of the Celtic Tiger property boom, with the garden being viewed as ‘another room’ by house-owners, who are willing to spend large amounts of money on extra features such as decking, fountains, ponds, statues and barbecue areas.
