Two more days to spread slurry

SATURDAY, October 15 is the last day for slurry spreading for farmers who have their required slurry storage capacity in place.

Whereas September 14 was the last day for chemical fertiliser spreading on all farms, farms which do not have enough slurry space can still spread slurry up to and including October 31.

But slurry or farmyard manure cannot be applied on any farm in November or December.

Preparing for the nitrates regulations will be one of the topics addressed at the Irish Examiner Farming Forum during the National Dairy Show at Millstreet on Saturday, October 21.
