ASA welcomes end of IFA boycott

THE Agricultural Science Association (ASA) has welcomed the decision by the Irish Farmers Association (IFA) to end its boycott of Teagasc over the controversial nitrates regulations.

ASA president James Fitzgerald said the IFA decision, combined with a similar decision by Macra na Feirme, ensures that all key organisations can work together in securing a more enlightened and scientifically-based approach to the implementation of the nitrates directive.

Meanwhile, the Teagasc national tillage conference has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 23, at the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow.
