Cork: The Irish co-op movement has honoured James Moloney, a native of Barryroe in West Cork, with its premier award.

Moloney receives top co-op honour

His outstanding contribution to the rural co-operative movement in Ireland was praised when ICOS president Padraig Gibbons presented him with the Plunkett Award.

Mr Moloney, who was born into a strong farming family, graduated from UCC with a degree in Economics and History and joined the IAOS (later renamed ICOS) in 1950 as a field officer in the Munster region.
