Whole milk powder export refunds up

EXPORT refunds for whole milk powder were increased by 10% at yesterday’s meeting of the EU Milk Management Committee in Brussels.

Minister Joe Walsh said the increase from €930/tonne to €1,024/tonne will help to stimulate exports of whole milk powder. It was particularly timely in view of the unfavourable euro/dollar exchange rate.

Mr Walsh said he had been pressing for urgent action on dairy support. Positive action had already been taken on skim milk powder refunds and casein aid increase.
