Consumers urged to go organic

CONSUMERS were urged yesterday by Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan to try organic food during National Organic Week, which begins on November 7.

Bord Bia will be the contact for all information relating to activities during the week.

Ms Coughlan said the main purpose of National Organic Week is to raise consumer awareness.

“We need to make the public aware of what organic food is, where and how it is produced and where they can buy it. We need to emphasise the positives associated with organic produce - fresh, seasonal, local,” she said.
