Lamb prices lost 26p per lb in the past month

THE downward trend in lamb prices at the factories continued this week as more supplies came on the market and international trade for lamb was quiet.

The processors knocked a further 14 cents/kg (5p/lb) off the base price for lambs when they re-opened for business on Tuesday following the long holiday week-end to continue the succession of price cuts which have been hitting lamb producers over the past month.

In the marts there was a slight improvement in the trade at Fermoy on Monday where some of the butchers lambs made up to €90/head.
