Teagasc training changes welcomed

MACRA na Feirme national president Colm Markey has welcomed yesterday’s decision by the board of the Teagasc Authority to make significant changes to its education and training programmes.

The recommendations for change came following a review by Teagasc’s education and training forum.

Welcoming the replacing of the 180-hour training course with a new advanced certificate in agriculture, Mr Markey said: “While the new course will require a greater commitment from participants, it will leave them far better equipped to deal with the demands of modern farming.” Met Éireann warned yesterday: “Weather conditions conducive to the spread of potato blight will continue for a time on Saturday.”
