Vital for co-ops to hold milk price

The strength of the EU and world dairy markets should ensure that co-ops could hold their milk price over the coming months, according to ICMSA dairy committee chairperson Dominic Cronin.

“We are seeing strong demand for butter, skim milk powder, whole milk powder, casein and cheese with substantial increases in the world price since April. Farmers in the US and New Zealand have seen a dramatic increase in their milk price over the last twelve months.”

Mr Cronin said it was vital that co-ops maintain their price.
