“TAKE stock of your quality of life sooner rather than later,” farmers have been advised by Teagasc, after a survey revealed a 77-hour working week, on average, for part-time farmers.

At least one out of three farmers in Ireland also holds an off-farm job.

Teagasc has put the working life of full-time farmers, part-time farmers, urban dwellers, and rural-based non-farm dwellers under the microscope, and discovered that the average part-time farmer has a very heavy workload of 77 hours per week, on average.
