Gibbons is new ICOS president

THE new president of ICOS, the co-ops national umbrella body, is Padraig Gibbons, who is from Westport and is also chairman of Connacht Gold.

He defeated outgoing president Donal Cashman, Whites Cross, Co Cork, the former IFA president, who had sought a second two-year term in office.

Mr Gibbons, who has served as chairman of the ICOS rural development committee, thanked Mr Cashman for his tireless efforts on behalf of the society and co-ops.
