Second calver takes All-Ireland title

A SECOND calver belonging to the Co Dublin exhibitor Cyril Dowling of Baldonnell won the Bailey’s All-Ireland dairy cow championship at Virginia Show in Co Cavan yesterday.

Food Minister Brendan Smith described the competition as an internationally recognised showpiece for top class dairy animals.

He said it is important for all involved in agriculture and in particular the livestock sector to acknowledge the contribution that can be made to the production of quality livestock by exhibiting top animals on a national stage.
