Poultry, egg conference date set

Athlone: Farm level output in the poultry and egg sector is valued at an estimated €190m, according to Bord Bia, which will hold a biennial conference in association with the industry at Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone, on October 12.

The sector employs more than 2,100 people.

Bord Bia Quality Assurance Manager John Keane said the conference will look at the challenges facing the industry, including international trade flows.

It will also examine the effects of new legislation on production and welfare systems, the impact of competition law on the sector and how to build a brand image for poultry and eggs, he added.
