Premium ‘must benefit dairy farmers’

THE dairy cow premium payable on October 15 must directly benefit the farmers concerned, who were suffering severe income pressure due to escalating costs, according to the ICMSA.

Dairy committee chairman Dominic Cronin, said that milk prices can and must be maintained over the coming months.

“Co-ops must look to their own internal cost structures to achieve greater efficiencies to ensure maximum returns for dairy farmers,” he said.
