McDonogh Group shift focus

The restructured Galway-based McDonogh Group will focus on feed milling, hardware, timber, DIY and property development, following its sale of Albatros Feeds Limited and Albatros Fertilisers Limited.

They have announced the acquisition of Albatros Feeds by The Rice Company of California, a worldwide trader, shipper and marketer of rice, grains, oilseeds and animal feeds. Albatros Feeds Limited, specialising in animal feed ingredients, with a staff of seven, will retain its trading brand name and no job cuts are envisaged.

lpostal strike: Farmers have been advised to sign up for the Department of Agriculture’s direct debit payment system, to avoid the effects of threatened postal strikes. “Farmers would be better off knowing their cheques have been lodged directly into their accounts, rather than waiting until the end of any dispute for much needed funds,” said Frank Kehoe, national suckler chairman with the Irish Cattle and Sheepfarmers Assocoation.
