Milk-Hut initiative in agri-tourism

Midleton: Details of the Milk-Hut project, which has expanded rapidly as an on-farm agri-tourism project in Germany over the past five years, were outlined at a conference on farmhouse tourism in Midleton, Co Cork, yesterday.

Johann Gelder, Imke Harms and Stefanie Nobis from the Wesermarsch region in northern Germany, said the aim of the project is to provide refreshments and local information to people who are cycling or walking and in many cases seeing how a working farm operates.

Ryan Howard, CEO East Cork Area Development (ECAD), the conference organisers, announced that it has earmarked up to €240,000 to be allocated to agri-tourism projects in the coming months.
