Sellers may seek replacement farm

WILL the vendors of the 15 million Dunkathel House, on 150 acres just a couple of miles east of Cork city, look to roll over their eventual windfall proceeds into farmland?
Sellers may seek replacement farm

The experience of late around Cork is that vendors of significant development lands with millions to spend cast about for replacement farms. A deal for such a farm is quietly going through in south Cork and may be finalised shortly, possibly becoming the biggest ever “pure” farm sale in the county. This widely rumoured sale faltered a few months ago, but is now back on track, according to our sources.

Dunkathel House, by Glanmire and overlooking the Lee Tunnel, is new to the market, a period home with mature parkland and woodland.

It is for sale with 80 of its 150 acres now zoned for house building and possibly with scope for up to 300 homes at a low density, and the house could make an hotel or corporate offices.

A sale was agreed on this portion of the land a couple of years ago for 14 million, but it failed to get past Bord Pleanala. It is unlikely that Dunkathel’s vendor, the Russell family, will be committing to any new farm or home replacement purchase until a sale is copper-fastened.
