ICMSA assured on butter price support

THE Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association says the EU Commission has given it an assurance on butter price support.

Dairy Committee chairman Dominic Cronin said the commission has indicated that it will increase export refunds for EU butter, which is currently uncompetitive on world markets.

Mr Cronin said the ICMSA had also stressed to the commission at a meeting in Brussels that no further concessions must be made in the WTO negotiations.
