Former IFA chief gets new Euro role

THE new president of the co-ops umbrella body in Europe is Donal Cashman, a former president of both the Irish Co-operative Organisation Society and the Irish Farmers’ Association.

He was elected for a two-year term in Brussels yesterday by COGECA, representing 40,000 EU agricultural co-operatives.

Mr Cashman and his son runs a dairy farm at White’s Cross, Co Cork.
