IFA telecom signs up 15,000
The company said it is on target to reach 20% of IFA’s membership base in its first year of business. It also launched a new low cost “pay as you go” internet service for customers.
IFA director of organisation Pat Smith said IFA Telecom is gaining the loyal support of Irish farm families.
“IFA members and the wider farming and agri-business community has identified with the option of switching to a farmer-owned telecommunications company.
It is now in a position to build on its strong first year performance,” he said.
Mr Smith said IFA Telecom was committed to driving down home phone and internet costs.
He called on Communications Minister Dermot Ahern to set up an independent group to draw up an action plan to get Irish line rental charges back towards the EU average within an agreed timeframe.
