Premium census forms must be completed
On receipt of notification letters and Herd Profiles, herdowners should establish by reference to their Bovine Herd Registers the numbers of bovine animals on their holdings on the census date, and complete and return the appropriate forms.
Irish Cattle and Sheep Association national beef chairman, Joe Kilmartin slammed the Department of Agriculture and Food for its late announcement of the fifth extensification census date, saying the the delay caused unnecessary speculation among farmers.
“The date is supposed to be announced 14 days after the date, however the latest announcement is over a week late and many farmers have taken a loss on cattle by not being made aware that the extensification date has already passed. ICSA is calling on the Department to announce census dates the day after they occur,” said Mr Kilmartin.
