Test holes are ‘death traps’ says Sunderland

soakage percolation test holes, required on all residential building sites, are death traps, says Mervyn Sunderland, Irish Cattle and Sheepfarmers Association sheep committee vice chairman.

The two metre deep holes are especially dangerous in winter-time, when they fill with water, he said.

“I have come across numerous farm animals which have been trapped and in some cases drowned in these death traps. Responsibility needs to be taken, or next time it will be a child who suffers”, says east Wicklow farmer Mr Sunderland.
