Small speciality food firms have chance to shine at three-day fair

It will happen at IFEX19, Ireland’s three-day international food, drink and hospitality exhibition, which opens at the RDS next Monday.

Over 60 speciality food companies will be brought together under one stand, called “Ireland, the Food Island,” in association with Bord Bia.

Last year, the sector had an output value of €430 million at factory gate prices, a 13% increased turnover on the previous year.

These local businesses benefit from the financial assistance and expertise provided by their local enterprise boards.

They will be given an opportunity to display products and services to the estimated 8,000 national and international buyers who will visit the show.

Food Minister Brendan Smith will officially open the exhibition of over 200 stands including displays from Germany, Belgium, Poland, Italy and France.

Irish food manufacturers and distributors will also use the exhibition to unveil new products.

Thirty-six small and speciality food producers will also take part in a Leader supported collective food village.

One of the highlights of the exhibition will be the international cheese awards with some 200 entries in 19 classes.
