€66,000 per acre a record

A PHENOMENAL €40,000 plus per acre was made at the sale of a 32 acre dairy farm at Ardkitt, Ballineen, Co Cork, by selling agent, John Hodnett of SWS Property Services.

However, that was topped last week with a €66,000 per acre result for another west Cork farm. That 15 acre holding, at Barreragh, Courtmacsherry, sold for €1,005,000 through selling agent, Henry O’Leary of Property Partners Henry O’Leary.

Both prices are record-breakers for the season. The Ardkitt land could be regarded as an agricultural sale, while the 15 acres at Barreragh, bought in trust by a Cork solicitor, looks like a hobby farm purchase.
