Beef prices at highest level in 10 years

Marts: THE live trade is continuing very strong in the marts this week with close to €600 over €/kg being paid for the tops of the choice continental single-punched bullocks, but the prices for the very plain type bullocks have eased back a little.

There is still an excellent trade for the heavy punched-out bullocks and the tops of these are making €450-€510 over with priced showing improvement of up to €30/head.

It is now over a decade since the beef prices were at their present level and store cattle particularly the punched-out and forward single punched animals are at their highest ever.
